Valerie Letourneau admitted it was a difficult weight cut to 115 pounds for UFC 186, but the Canadian left her fans happy inside the Bell Centre Saturday night.
Letourneau (7-3) used her strong ground game and precise striking to keep Jessica Rakoczy off balance.
“I would have loved to have finished the fight,” she said. “(Rakoczy) is a tough girl and is hard to finish.”
Early in the fight, Letourneau appeared to have a deep armbar locked in, but Rakoczy (2-5) survived. She also had other submission attempts, but knew there would be no tap from Rakoczy, who was a finalist on The Ultimate Fighter.
“Her arm was all curled up,” she said. “I knew I had to break her arm to get the finish.”
